September 23rd and 28th

Get hands-on with habitat restoration, gloves included! Join the City of Laguna Niguel and Irvine Ranch Conservancy to help restore vital habitat for Orange County’s declining cactus wren population.

With grant funding from the Transportation Corridor Agencies, 10 acres within the Salt Creek Corridor Open Space will be restored. Five acres will become coastal sage scrub habitat, while another five acres will be restored as cactus scrub habitat.

Volunteers will plant wild-collected cactus pads in prepared basins amended with compost. Protective gloves and specialized tools will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary.

Space is limited. Register today, bring a friend, and help create a healthier home for the cactus wren!
