Volunteers Needed: Mountain Biking Trail Guides and Docents

Explore exciting mountain biking experiences at Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks suitable for all skill levels and become a volunteer to help offer opportunities to the community! 🚵‍♂️🌿 #MountainBiking #IrvineRanch

Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast who is new to the hobby or an avid biker, monthly mountain biking activities for all experience levels are offered on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. Bikers have the opportunity to explore diverse trails and scenic routes through guided activities, self-guided Wilderness Access Days and seven-day trails, in addition to enhancing their skills through technical clinics in the City of Irvine. However, to expand the availability of these opportunities for the community, volunteers are essential.

Irvine Ranch Conservancy (IRC) is actively seeking Mountain Biking Trail Guides and Docents to lead mountain biking activities on the Landmarks. Trail Guides support volunteer-led activities, introducing the public and connecting them to the natural beauty of the Landmarks. Prospective volunteers interested in becoming certified IRC Mountain Biking Trail Guides need to fill out the Volunteer Interest Form, attend the New Volunteer Orientation, participate in a Public Engagement Workshop, obtain First Aid & CPR certifications (at no cost) and complete two Volunteer-Only Training Hikes. Additionally, volunteers-in-training must attend at least one IRC-led mountain biking skills clinic.

To further enhance the volunteer experience, Mountain Biking Docents lead activities with the support of Trail Guides on the Landmarks. To become a certified IRC Mountain Biking Docent, volunteers must first complete Trail Guide certification, log 36 volunteer hours and then undergo the Activity Leadership Training Course, a fun, highly intensive, very interactive seven-week program. After completing the course, volunteers are able to implement and lead mountain biking activities for the public.

Anyone interested in becoming a mountain biking volunteer will get priority registration through the end of December for the next orientation, scheduled for February 9, 2025. If you’re interested, please email info@irconservancy.org. For more information on becoming a volunteer, visit IRC-Certified Volunteer Program – Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks.

New volunteers are always welcome and can contribute in various ways. Volunteering is a fantastic way to explore and help preserve the land for future generations!
