How long have you worked for IRC?

I’ve been working for IRC as an Accountant for over two years.

What did you do in your career before working for IRC?

I got my Associate in Arts (AA) degree in Accounting and Business in Iran before moving to the United States. I worked for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts from 1981 to 1989 to help my sister with accounting and left as an Assistant Controller. I then moved on to work at Marbella Golf Country Club in San Juan Capistrano as an Accounts Payable and left as a Controller.  I had a few more stops along the way before joining IRC. With so many projects and funding sources at IRC, accounting can get pretty complicated. I feel like my background provided me with a well-rounded skillset that has allowed me to flourish here.

Can you give us a short summary of your current job duties?

My job duties as Accountant at IRC are, but are not limited to, accounts payable, processing invoices, checks, accounts receivable, budget vs actual, journal entries, 1099, vacation accrual, deferred revenue, prepaid accounts, sales and use tax, credit card journal entries, etc. I’m a numbers person!

What drew you to a career at IRC?

I was drawn to a career at IRC thanks to my friend who works here! She always said how much she loved working here, so I asked her to keep a lookout for any opportunities. Finally, a few years ago, she told me that there was a job opening in the Accounting Department and I was lucky enough to get the job. Working for IRC has really changed my life, and I am so grateful for this opportunity!

What has been your favorite aspect of working in the Accounting Department at IRC?

Other than all my wonderful coworkers, I love that IRC stands for restoration, nature and wildlife.  I also love all the opportunities to get outside.  Even though I do most of my work from the computer, we prioritize getting out on the land as often as possible, and that has been wonderful.

Do you have a favorite Landmark or trail? Or is there an area that you’re excited to explore on the Landmarks?

I have gotten the chance to explore lots of new areas since I joined IRC, but my favorite is probably Baker Meadow which is found in OC Parks’ Black Star Canyon Wilderness Park.  It is so peaceful there.

What do you like to do outside of work for fun?

I love to hang out with my friends and family and travel. I love traveling to tropical and exotic places, and I especially love traveling to Jamaica.

IRC is truly grateful for Mina’s invaluable contribution to IRC, ensuring the organization runs smoothly. Thank you, Mina, for your dedication and hard work!
