Irvine Ranch Conservancy Volunteer and Partner Celebration 2024

Irvine Ranch Conservancy (IRC) recognizes that its mission to protect, restore and enhance urban wildlands in Southern California wouldn’t be possible without the exceptional efforts of their dedicated partners and volunteers. To celebrate this collaborative work, IRC hosts an annual Volunteer and Partner Celebration, honoring those who have made significant contributions.

The event, held on May 31 at the Augustine Staging Area in Limestone Canyon, provided an opportunity for the community members who support IRC to come together and celebrate their successes with the organization. Volunteers and partners alike were recognized for their outstanding collaboration and dedication to helping IRC succeed.

During the celebration, IRC President and CEO Mike O’Connell presented the “Excellence in Partnership” award to City of Irvine Manager Oliver Chi, recognizing the outstanding partnership between the two organizations.

Volunteers were also honored for reaching remarkable milestones in their career and yearly hours. Notably, two volunteers, Joe Bramblett and Joan Steiner, have each contributed over 8,000 lifetime hours, while eighteen others were recognized for contributing over 500 hours in the past year. IRC can’t thank their volunteers enough for their unwavering dedication!

In addition to these recognitions, IRC awarded over a dozen volunteers the “Spirit of Volunteerism” award from each program area, including individuals who have made significant contributions.

The event featured lively guitar music, caricature artists and opportunities for new and existing colleagues to connect. Educational booths showcased ongoing projects in partnership with IRC, including projects that students from UC Irvine and the Delhi Center are working on in collaboration with IRC and a demonstration of a wildfire-detecting mesh sensor network, called SensoRy AI by Ryan Honary. IRC staff also had several booths with information about current projects and initiatives for the community to learn about.

Thank you to all those who support IRC’s efforts in the community!
