Volunteer Coordinator
The Irvine Ranch Conservancy is a mission-based non-profit organization with 50 full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees and over 400 volunteers. Our mission is to protect, restore, and enhance the natural resources of nearly 50,000 acres of protected open space on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks in perpetuity, and to provide diverse opportunities for compatible public enjoyment through scientific, recreational, and educational initiatives and programs.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Volunteer Coordinator seeking to be part of an award-winning volunteer program. As Volunteer Coordinator, you will support one or more of the Conservancy’s volunteer programs and be involved in every aspect of the program. You will be the primary contact for volunteer questions, as well as partner agency questions about the volunteer program. You will spend much of your time working in our volunteer database, to ensure the information is current and correct. You will also attend client meetings, volunteer orientations, and other volunteer training sessions. Eventually, you may even lead some of these sessions. Special projects related to the volunteer program come up all the time, and you will play a major role in making sure those are completed.

The ideal candidate:
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and two years relevant experience, with at least one year of experience organizing or coordinating volunteers or a similar program.
- Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of the processes and needs of a volunteer group. Additionally, minimum of one year of experience presenting/facilitating training sessions. Finally, technical skills including Google platform, Office 365, and CRM or similar database experience.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license required. Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) or ability to obtain upon hire. Current CPR/first aid certificate, or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Adaptability: Work independently and successfully under defined objectives without detailed review of work. Organize time and manage diverse activities and timelines.
- Communication Skills and Teamwork: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work and communicate with diverse groups. Outstanding interpersonal skills. Highly team and collaboration oriented within the organization and with partner agencies.
- Organization: High level of organization skills and attention to detail. Excellent time and task management including successful juggling of multiple tasks of differing sizes and priorities.
