The Irvine Ranch Conservancy is a mission-driven non-profit, non-advocacy organization with a team of 50 employees and nearly 500 volunteers. Our mission is to protect, restore, and enhance the natural resources of nearly 50,000 acres of protected open space on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks, and to provide diverse opportunities for compatible public enjoyment through scientific, recreational, and educational programs.
The Conservancy is seeking a team-oriented and collaborative Staff Accountant to be an important part of our mission-based organization. The Staff Accountant assists in the overall fiscal control of the organization, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, auditing, receipts, disbursements, and contract billing. The position also provides guidance to other departments and employees by researching and interpreting accounting policy and making recommendations on operational issues and processes and procedures related to accounting.
The successful candidate:
Salary: D.O.E. $55,000 - $57,000 FLSA Status: Regular, Full Time, Exempt

The successful candidate:
- Education – Has a bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting plus 3 or more years of related work experience.
- Experience – Is familiar with a wide variety of accounting principles, including GAAP and fund accounting practices and regulations. Experience with non-profit accounting is desirable. Demonstrates strong experience with MS Excel and Word. Familiarity with Financial Edge is a plus.
- Teamwork – Is collaborative and team oriented, and takes pride in group accomplishments.
- Organization – Has strong organizational skills and exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Has the ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, along with the ability to independently manage and execute a wide variety of accounting tasks.
- Communication Skills – Demonstrates sensitivity and discretion in handling confidential information. Has strong interpersonal skills, as well as demonstrated diplomacy, tact, and poise.
- Adaptability – Is adaptable and flexible with the ability to implement time-management skills in a dynamic work environment.
- Problem Solving – Resolves routine accounting problems with minimal direction.
