Shawn Thorin - Program Coordinator

Shawn oversees field crews and contractors in the day-to-day implementation of the Bee Flat Canyon and Agua Chinon habitat restoration projects. This includes removing invasive and non-native plant species, installing native plants, and monitoring sensitive plants and wildlife throughout the restoration areas. He also leads stewardships and public land tours and trains new supervisors. Shawn is in charge of equipment checks and repairs for the Science department. Prior to joining the Conservancy, he worked for California State Parks Orange Coast District Natural Resource Management Department consisting of six state parks from San Onofre in the south to Bolsa Chica in the north, where he was responsible for implementing restoration projects, removing invasive and non-native species, working with Cal Fire inmate hand crews, erosion control, trail maintenance, and monitoring rare and endangered species.
