Wildflower Walk on Limestone Loop
Go Wild for Spring Wildflowers…
Roam among the multi-colored wildflowers that cover the hills of the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. Join us on April 22 at 8 a.m. and enjoy a moderate hike in pristine Limestone Canyon. During your morning journey, you'll be welcomed by the fresh, spring air and the fragrant scent of wildflowers. Prepare to see deep, purple phacelias; vibrant, white morning glories; bright, orange poppies and soft, pink maraposa lilies along the way. This program promises to be an invigorating delight for all of your senses.
In addition to the wildflower display, your trek will take you through one of the most majestic areas of the Natural Landmarks. Limestone Canyon is known for its unusual geological formations and lush oak woodlands that cover the canyon bottoms and provide shelter for a large variety of birds, mammals and reptiles. This rich diversity of flora and fauna, makes the canyon a favorite among hikers, mountain bikers and naturalists.
This four hour adventure will be approximately six miles long at a moderate pace. There will be some elevation gain with many pauses to view the wildflowers. Please come prepared with proper hiking clothes/shoes, sun protection, water and your camera to capture the beauty of the land during spring.
The program is docent-led and you must be at least 12 years old to participate. For more information email info@irconservancy.org and to register for this program or others visit http://www.irvineranchwildlands.org/activities/index.asp.
