NOW'S A GOOD TIME TO CONNECT WITH NATURE
Unplug those distracting gadgets and plug into a true source of energy,
the outdoors

Let's face it: Life can be hectic. Like a looped video stuck on fast-forward, we scurry from one place to the next - the office, the supermarket, home, the kids' soccer games - and then find ourselves repeating it all tomorrow. Amidst this endless cycle of busyness, it's easy to forget there's a natural world out there just waiting to be explored.

So, if you're feeling a bit stressed these days (and if so, take heart – you're in very good company), here's the good news: The cure for what ails you is surprisingly simple. Turn off the TV. Forget, if only for a while, where you left your cell phone. Walk away from the computer. And then, go outdoors. Take a hike. Ride a mountain bike. Guide a horse along a dusty trail. Enjoy an evening nature walk. Work alongside others as they restore sensitive habitat.

In other words, plug in to nature and experience its restorative powers. It's as easy as it sounds, and you’ll be amazed at how personally rewarding it is.

There is no better time than right now to reconnect with Mother Nature… and yourself. And there's no better place to do so than the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks.

Located in the heart of Orange County, the open space is an outdoor nirvana, a spectacular landscape home to hundreds of species of native plants and animals, with rugged mountains, rolling grasslands, shady oak woodlands and sandy beaches. A majority of the land has been designated a Natural Landmark by both the State of California and the U.S. Department of Interior in recognition of its exceptional biological and geological value and importance to California and the nation.

"There are countless ways to leave the stress behind and enjoy the Natural Landmarks, including hiking, mountain biking, equestrian programs and naturalist-led tours," says Michael O’Connell, executive director of the Irvine Ranch Conservancy. "Through a variety of free programs or getting involved in taking care of natural resources and trails, there are many exciting ways to connect to the land. And there’s no better time to get reacquainted with nature than spring. Now is a great time for individuals and entire families to take stress-busting mini adventures without having to travel far or spend money."
