Irvine Ranch Conservancy offers a variety of free activities for the whole family

Springtime is officially here, bringing blue skies, warm air and lots of Orange County sunshine throughout the flourishing landmarks. Families looking to spend quality time in the beauty of nature over spring break can join a variety of fitness activities and wildlife experiences on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. Whether spring break is in session or not, LetsGoOutside.org provides a variety of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and adore the local Landmarks.

Families looking for a relaxing start to the week can enjoy a non-stressful exercise while taking in the fresh air of Baker Canyon at Tai Chi in the Canyon. Take a moment to energize together and enjoy the blossoming nature during this outdoor exercise on Monday, April 1 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The session is open to all ages 18 and older who want to participate or simply observe the outdoor exercise.

Enjoy the flourishing beauty of Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve on a breathtaking Wildflower Hike throughout the canyon. The vibrant scenery of Limestone Canyon brings a sweet experience of the Spring season where hikers ages 6 and up can view an array of wildflowers. Bring the family for an exquisite trip with wildflowers on Tuesday, April 4 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Families interested in the hike will need closed-toe shoes, plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat for the journey.

Spend a day basking in the scenic views of Quail Hill during a Mid-Week Hike on Wednesday, April 3 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Hikers ages 18 and up will journey over 10 miles through various single-track trails and steep climbs while enjoying Irvine’s beautiful Southern Preserve. For this mid-week hike, comfortable shoes and plenty of water are required.

Families looking for an exciting adventure with the hope of seeing animals can explore the expansive nature of Weir Canyon during Explore Weir Canyon: Animal Signs and Tracks. This Saturday morning trek through the Weir Canyon Nature Preserve brings a unique experience where families can relish in the wildlife that Orange County has to offer. On this 5-mile journey, hikers ages 12 and up will learn how to spot animal tracks and scats and could stumble upon local wildlife as well! Join the hike on Saturday, April 6 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and bring along plenty of water, closed-toed shoes and a sturdy hiking backpack for the journey.

Morning hikes offered each Tuesday on Hicks Haul Road gives participants ages 16 and up the space to pace themselves and choose a route between 3, 6 or 8 miles. Hikers can expect spectacular views and variety of animals from hawks to lizards on Tuesday, April 2 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.

Enjoy the spring air and energizing sunshine during any of the free Irvine Ranch Conservancy activities. Always remember to stay hydrated, pack a snack and wear the appropriate clothing and shoes. Every program is open to the public, but registration is required. Keep in mind that space is limited and early registration is recommended.
