To better connect diverse populations to the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks, OC Parks and Irvine Ranch Conservancy are hosting " Walk in Irvine Ranch (Caminata en Irvine Ranch)" in Black Star Canyon on September 14. This unique hike will take visitors along the majestic Red Rocks at sunset, with information about wildlife presented in both English and Spanish.
"Nature holds a diverse landscape of different plants and wildlife, so presenting the information in English and Spanish helps connect more people to the land," said Kelley Reetz, Irvine Ranch Conservancy Interpretive Specialist. "Bilingual hikes help open up the open space across cultures and generations."
The "Walk Irvine Ranch" hike is Friday, September 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Black Star Canyon. The easy trail is perfect for families, and while the hike is recommended for kids 12 and over, younger hikers who would enjoy a 2-mile hike are welcome. Pre-registration is required for the free program, and participants can register online at www.LetsGoOutside.org/activities.
