Coordinator II - Finance and Accounting

THE TEAM
IRC’s finance and accounting team cares for IRC’s overall economic health. The team works in partnership with others in the organization to assist them in managing programs and projects. The team also works closely with the board of directors, funding partners, and vendors, and implements financial strategies to keep the organization sustainable and nimble. The team prepares financial statements, maintains the general ledger, processes accounts payable and accounts receivable, manages the annual audit, and more.
THE POSITION
The Accounting Coordinator II contributes to the delivery of tasks and projects as part of the finance and accounting team and is responsible for coordinating resources and assisting team members to deliver outstanding results on IRC’s projects and commitments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a variety of skilled tasks to implement all day-to-day payment cycle activities as well as other accounting- and business operations-related tasks. Tasks include coordinating vendors, data collection, data entry and review, reporting, and other duties under general direction of managers. May also perform tasks across multiple projects or programs. May coordinate the work of others, including leading teams of other employees. Works with others in the organization and external as necessary. Other duties as assigned. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Provide guidance and assistance to and participate in training other team members.
- Participate in team meetings and communicate key information to other team members.
- Effectively maintain relationships with vendors and other business operations contacts, as well as stakeholders where appropriate.

Operational and Project Coordination
- Schedule and coordinate activities in accordance with established timelines and goals.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors.
- Coordinate with team members in other areas of the organization.
- Coordinate the acquisition and use of resources (equipment, supplies, etc.).
- Ensure quality of work being implemented.
Operational and Project Development
- Contribute to the development of systems, processes, and techniques aimed at improving outcomes.
- Provide recommendations for ensuring internal and external customer needs are met and efficiencies are achieved.
- As part of the team, contribute to the development of project plans.
- Lead or participate in special projects and on operational teams based on connection to position as well as additional skills and strengths.
COMPETENCIES
Knowledge and Experience
- Familiar with a wide variety of accounts payable processes, including GAAP and understanding of accrual basis accounting.
- Working experience with financial accounting software; experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge helpful, but not required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365, particularly working in the SharePoint environment.
- Strong skills working with Excel.
- Experience with data collection and management.
- Experience coordinating and implementing activities for projects with established timelines and deliverables.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience in a related field. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree: Two (2) years of experience.
CLASSIFICATION
- Regular, Full Time (40 hours per week), Non-Exempt (Hourly) (FLSA).
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
SUPERVISION
- Reports to: Accounting Manager
- Supervises: n/a
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Office-based. May need to occasionally step outside in all weather conditions to visit other buildings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work in a seated position 90% of the time, while operating office equipment such as computers and printers.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
