Fleet & Facility Technician

 Irvine Ranch Conservancy (IRC) restores, protects, and enhances our closest connection to nature – our local wildlands. As an innovator in the management of Southern California’s urban wildlands, IRC works in partnership with landowners, community leaders, and residents in Orange County and beyond to engage, educate, and foster a shared vision for responsible, long-term care and protection of the natural resources we all share. 
 
THE TEAM 
IRC’s operations team works behind the scenes to support IRC’s mission and programs. The team works in partnership with others in the organization to assist them in managing programs and projects. The team also works closely with vendors and partners. IRC’s operations team manages facilities, vehicles, equipment, land access, and other activities. 
 
THE POSITION 
The Fleet & Facility Technician contributes to the delivery of tasks and projects through basic repairs and service coordination specifically related to Irvine Ranch Conservancy's facilities, equipment, and fleet.  
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
Perform a variety of general and skilled tasks, including: 
  • Basic maintenance tasks, such as landscaping, irrigation, pressure washing, painting, vehicle maintenance, and equipment maintenance. 
  • May occasionally perform light janitorial duties, assist with receiving deliveries to the facility, and travel to local vehicle service locations. 
  • Assist with advanced facility repair tasks, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, metal work, and equipment operation.  
  • May occasionally assist other teams and programs. 
Other duties as assigned. Implement high-quality work at all times. 
 
COMPETENCIES 
 Knowledge and Experience 
  • Experience working safely with basic hand and power tools 
  • Experience in landscaping, drip line systems, irrigation control systems, blowers, hedge trimmers, weed whips, chainsaws, rakes, and brooms 
  • Experience working in any of the following trades: electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, welding 
  • Forklift Certification 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, particularly working in the SharePoint environment

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 
  • Valid California driver’s license with driving record acceptable to IRC. 
  • High school diploma or GED preferred. 
  • One (1) year of relevant work experience. 
 CLASSIFICATION 
  • Regular, Full Time (40 hours per week), Non-Exempt (Hourly) (FLSA). 
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required. 
 SUPERVISION 
  • Reports to: Operations Manager 
  • Supervises: n/a 
 WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • Primarily field-based (outdoors) in all weather conditions, including heat, direct sun, wind, rain, and cold, with some office work. 
  • Required to drive IRC vehicles to local service vendors for vehicle maintenance and repairs. 
 PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.
