The Irvine Ranch Conservancy is a non-profit, non-advocacy organization with about 50 employees and nearly 500 volunteers. Our mission is to protect, restore, and enhance the natural resources of nearly 50,000 acres of protected open space on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks in perpetuity, and to provide diverse opportunities for compatible public enjoyment through scientific, recreational, and educational initiative and programs.
The Conservancy has an opening for a full time Communications Coordinator. This is a great opportunity to take your marketing skills outdoors! The position will support a variety of marketing, public relations, and traditional and social media projects for the Conservancy. The Communications Coordinator will assist in development and distribution of electronic and printed collateral, assist in management of the Conservancy and Landmarks websites, and perform both programmatic and administrative tasks focused on achieving the mission and goals of the Conservancy and its partners. They will have excellent writing skills in the area of feature writing, press releases, newsletter articles, brochure copy, website content and email communications with the public. The Communications Coordinator will collaborate closely with partners, volunteers and other Conservancy employees on outreach and communications projects, events and programs.

The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Education - Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2 years of related experience. Non-profit experience a plus but not required.
- Experience
- High-level proficiency in MS Office, Google Office Suite, and Excel required.
- Experience with writing in a marketing and/or public relations style preferred
- Ability to proofread content and communications collateral for grammar and spelling.
- Adobe InDesign or Photoshop and some basic HTML experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience with coordinating and tracking multiple tasks for concurrent projects, keeping each deadline and project goal in mind.
- Must have experience in tailoring materials and messages consistently and appropriately across multiple media platforms, including print, press release, social media and website.
- Working knowledge of email strategy and tactical execution.
- Teamwork – Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with co-workers who may have varying backgrounds, subject matter expertise and work schedules. Provides a variety of ongoing information support to Conservancy staff and partners to assist workflow throughout the organization.
- Communication Skills – Ability to clearly communicate complex issues and detail to a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing. And assist in representing the Conservancy at community events and other events.
- Organizational Skills - Requires an organized, dependable self-starter who can prioritize a number of tasks and projects at once, as well as produce high-quality work for different audiences under tight deadlines.
- Adaptability – Must be able to efficiently schedule time for day-to-day tasks, long-range projects and last-minute assignments. Flexibility and dependability are key aspects of this role.
- Problem Solving – Ability to leverage constructive and effective relationships toward goals. Resolve conflicts and move groups and individuals to joint outcomes.
