Business Operations Coordinator

The Irvine Ranch Conservancy is a mission-driven non-profit, non-advocacy organization with a team of 50 employees and nearly 500 volunteers. Our mission is to protect, restore, and enhance the natural resources of nearly 50,000 acres of protected open space on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks, and to provide diverse opportunities for compatible public enjoyment through scientific, recreational, and educational programs.

The Conservancy is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative Business Operations Coordinator to be an important part of our mission-based organization. This job is for you if you have experience in business administration, particularly coordinating all aspects of contracts to ensure the work gets done and the organization is in compliance. And if you are enthusiastic about tracking and organizing information, and sharing status reports with your co-workers on a regular basis. And finally, if you don’t mind pitching in and helping out with other business-related tasks when needed. This is a new position, and you will have the opportunity to play a significant part in creating systems and processes to organize and track information.

 The ideal candidate:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, science (natural or social), or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years work experience in business administration or related area. Experienced with, ideally, both private-party contracts and local agency and state contracts.
  • Computer Proficiency: Comfortable with Google Suite, particularly email and calendars. Intermediate-level experience with MS Word and Excel. Basic database experience.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Enthusiastic about organizing and tracking information, as well as manipulating and analyzing data and producing reports. Very particular about grammar and spelling, and especially the importance of word choice in written documents. Familiar with general contracting principles.
  • Organization: Excellent time and task management. Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Professional, friendly, and able to interact successfully at all levels. Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Teamwork: Enjoys contributing to team outcomes and takes pride in group accomplishments.
  • Adaptability: Adaptable and flexible with the ability to implement time-management skills in a dynamic work environment.
  • Decision Making/Problem Solving: Makes day-to-day decisions and resolves routine problems with minimal direction.

Working Condition/Physical Effort: Work requires the ability to remain in a seated position up to 75% of the time and occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.

Benefits: The Conservancy offers industry-leading benefits including paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave; medical, dental, and vision insurance; health savings account (HSA) with employer contribution; life and short- and long-term disability insurance; optional 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, optional flexible spending account (FSA), optional dependent care spending plan, and optional long term care insurance with employer contribution.
